¡Meraviglioso! Small Vineyards’ Italian Direct Imports

Small Vineyards Direct Import Wines:
About twice a year we get the chance to taste wines at Small Vineyards Direct Import events. We essentially have to choose the wines right then and there, and only a small amount is imported to the US. So this means there is less available to the general market, so enjoy it and let us know right away if you would like more, and we can try to fulfill any requests. These wines go perfectly with holiday feasts, or can just be enjoyed on a cold night with simple, flavorful foods.

07 Fattoria Bibbiani Treggiaia
This splendid, simple but deeply flavored red is just a delightful wine to pop open with friends. Appealing to nearly every taste, it has smooth dark plum-laden notes laced with chocolate and light spice. It is, in short, of amazing quality at this price point. Try with grilled or fried sausages, cheese, and roasts. It’s also definitely an ideal pizza wine.

05 Podere Ciona Merlot
When we hosted Lorenzo Gatteschi last year during our Small Vineyards Italian Winemakers tasting, he was as gregarious as his wines are - and that is the great thing about the Poderi Ciona style. It is generous, approachable, and full flavored. This fantastic Merlot has great volume in its main body of flavor, a delightfully smooth delivery, and a gorgeous long finish. Plush with fruit, it is a superb winter wine to share with friends, and will stimulate conversation and joy.

06 Marchetti Rosso Conero
The next club wine is from our second hosted guest from the Small Vineyards tasting event, Marizio Marchetti. Rosso Conero hails from the Marche region which is on the upper east coast of Italy, where grapes like Montepulciano create a unique combination of heady and elegant wines. This features ripe plum mixed with cranberry notes, slightly astringent tannins and a great mineral quality overall. Absolutely superb with hearty pasta sauce and other heavier flavored dishes.
