2001 Quailhurst Pinot Noir Estate  was $55, now $28
It is always a pleasure to find an aged Oregon Pinot like this. Usually Oregon Pinots this old would only come from someone’s cellar - but here is unique chance to taste one for yourself. Delicate at first, the nose has light raspberry, orange peel, and just a hint of the classic Pinot funk. Medium weight, velvety smooth on the palate: floral and tart berry notes mix with orange zest and a hint of spice at the finish. The tannins have completely smoothed out but a slight acidity gives this the backbone to have with a variety of meals, or just on its own . . . this is definitely a drink now wine, so enjoy it soon. Allow about 20 minutes of breathing time. We can get a bit more of this, so if you like it, let us know right away. The winery itself is offering bottles for almost twice the price.

2006 De Tarczal Marzemino  $16.70
In Mozart’s famous opera Don Giovanni, the doomed main character cries out just before he is ushered to hell: "Versa il vino! Eccellente Marzemino!" What a wine this must be! As Don Giovanni's last request on earth, he pines for a glass of the red wine made from the Marzemino grape, grown mostly in the town of Isera, which is in the northern Italian region of Trentino. Known for its bright and fresh flavors, this selection from De Tarczal delivers taste worthy of a last request. Smooth yet intense, it delivers delicious berry flavors beautifully accented with the essence of orange. One of those wines that just gets better with every sip. We have a fairly good supply in the shop, but we'll not be able get more, so get some while it lasts.

2007 Chateau St. Baulery St. Chinian  $12.70
Dave tried this recently and picked it out immediately from an impressive lineup of fine wines imported by Hand Picked Selections, a small importing company. What a wonderful find and price! Hailing from a region within the Laguedoc in France (along the southern Mediterranean coast), St. Chinian is well known for its spicy and hearty Grenache-based reds. This strikingly classy and flavorful selection from Chateau Baulery has lovely fruit in the nose and a balanced dose of black pepper - the pepper note is especially intriguing in this bottle since it is more aromatic than spicy. The delectable nose leads to a plush blackberry body finishing with pepper and spice; the fruit is very full but the tannins make it come off very dry. Extremely appealing at first, if you find the wine "tight" have no worry; this smoothes out after a good hour of breathing. A real treat with duck.
